Operator Speed →
This is geared more to law enforcement and military, but it makes a lot of sense. Don’t carry more gear than you really need. Seems obvious.
Fourth Generation Glock-Adjustable Grips →
This might be good news for people with smaller hands. I haven’t seen or handled one yet, but it is probably a good idea. I still wish they would make a single stack 9mm.
An alternative to the Brinks/ADT home security... →
I saw this over at SayUncle and I thought it was worth sharing.
Public relations for tactical teams. →
This is an interesting read, hat-tip to Trigger-pull Tactical
Detective Tripped, Accidentally Shot Man in Heart →
This is why it’s a bad idea to take the safety off until you are ready to shoot. The low-ready is a safety on position. A lot of police officers are shot by their buddies or themselves because of this.
More about failures in the M4 →
Here is some more detail about failures of the M4 in the battle of Wanat.
Man and Police Officer Scuffle in Credit Card... →
If the credit card company believes your credit card is stolen, fighting with the police isn’t going to change their mind. Now this guy has to sort things out with his credit card company after he deals with his third-degree assault of an officer and resisting arrest charges.

Some detailed analysis debunking a recent study that claims people with a gun were 4.5 times more likely to be shot in an assault than those not possessing a gun.
Dennis Tueller: How Close is Too Close? →
The article that started it all with respect to recognizing the reactionary gap (aka “21 foot rule”) that exists when dealing with people with contact weapons.

A new court ruling in new mexico finds that people who are open carrying a handgun but are not breaking any laws cannot be detained by the police. Interesting read.

Man robbed near 3rd and Pike St. →
_”…The suspects surrounded the victim and felt his pockets…
The victim walked away and the suspects followed. A block or so away, the victim was punched in the back of the head and knocked to the ground… The males stole the victim’s wallet, iPhone and a jacket…” _
If a group of strangers decides to give you a pat down on city street, you are probably going to...
Making Your Own Carry Ammo? →
Even if the reloads were perfect: why bother? Less than perfect reloads will not be as reliable as commercially available ammunition. In terms of terminal ballistics you are not gaining anything. The legal liability is an open question (probably overhyped in most circumstances) but why assume the risk?
Udall's bill has backers →
Federal legislation could create new shooting ranges.
Why MAIG Isn’t a Minor Threat →
Interesting analysis of post-heller gun control and the interconnectedness of gun control groups.
Physical Fitness and boxing beats would be rapist. →
A failure of the victim selection process.
Links Between Brady & MAIG Established. →
If it seems like all the gun control organizations are in cahoots, it is because they are.
Can a Bully Claim Self-Defense? →
This is interesting. It is worth considering when think about effecting a “stop” against an assailant.
The Survival Gun →
I like the authors reasoning on weapon selection, but I would certainly augment my defensive handgun with semi-auto rifle.
Nordyke v. King en banc →
A summary of posts.
South Korea to sell 108,000 Garand Rifles to US... →
If you were looking for a Garand or an M1 carbine this might be your chance.

Not really self-defense related, but an interesting story regardless.

The media isn’t talking about it, but there is more info here.
Headbutts →
I am not a big fan of the headbutt as a primary attack, but here is some pretty thorough information about them.
British musings on self defense and gun control. →
The author is worried more about people using self defense as a cover for murder than he is about people protecting themselves from violent criminals.

Hsoi wrote the post so I didn’t have to.
Straight Forward in a crooked world: Do your damn... →
The author makes a good point that if those who believe in self defense avoid jury duty it makes it could well make those cases harder to win in the long run.
FBI Handgun Wounding Factors and Effectiveness →
A nice addendum to the wound ballistics from Maddened Fowl
Murder begins where self-defense ends →
Predators do not simply select weak and small. They select those they believe that they can surprise and defeat without risk. This is a key difference. Deterrence happens not simply because a victim might win, but because a victim might pose too much of a problem.

For when your safe-action pistol’s action isn’t safe enough?
Maddened Fowl →

Guns, how many do you really need? →
It’s an interesting question. Probably worth a post here.
SIG516 →
I think this would be an great home-defense gun, too bad about all of legal hoops you would have to jump through to make that happen.
